Learn more about Our Expertise
Since 1979, our plant has had an outstanding manufacturing expertise. It is enviable, especially in the second hardwood process. Our hardwood stair parts are produced in large volumes and are sold to distributors and stair manufacturers all over North America.
Supplying raw materials
Menuiserox has a well-established supply network. Our logs and wooden planks are carefully selected in our supplier’s lumberyards. Thus, it allows us to verify the quality of the raw material, the wood grade, the length as well as its provenance. It is of great importance that the raw material comes from the same regions. All of these steps, enable us to maintain consistent and high-quality products.
When logs are purchased, they are cut in planks before being transported to our plant. To full capacity, Menuiserox’s raw material inventory adds up to 1 million board feet; this enables year-round availability of our products.
The equipment and installations
Thank to our facilities that reach up to 75 000 sq.ft., Menuiserox treats the raw material with care. Upon arrival, the lumber is sent to the wood sorting facility to be classified by certified professionals. This first process enables us to check the quality and grades of the wood. Once this step is completed, it is sent to the wood dryers. Hot air wood dryers are powered by a boiler heating system. This operation is crucial in wood processing in order to have outstanding and stable hardwood stair parts.
The Know-how
We are focused on continuous improvement in manufacturing processes in order to offer the best hardwood stair components in the industry. Quality control is implemented in the different steps of the production line. As soon as an employee is hired, the transfer of knowledge takes place to Menuiserox’s standards which are: attention to details and producing top-end quality products.
The Efficiency
Menuiserox owns a high-level stock inventory of raw material. In this manner, our production and lead times are optimized to outcompete competitors. As soon as an order is submitted from our online order system, it is sent to the production line. There, it is carefully monitored through all the processing stages to ensure on-time deliveries.
Experts in hardwood stair parts manufacturing since 1979 Our history
1979 Founding
On February 6, 1979, Simon Boucher officially went into business. A carpenter by trade and a tireless worker, the wood enthusiast’s vision was crystal clear: he would run a business that manufactured wood construction materials. Which is how Menuiserox was born!
Simon is originally from Beauceville in Chaudière-Appalaches, which is where he built his plant at the young age of 25. In the beginning, Menuiserox manufactured and installed hardwood stairs and integrated furnishings for local clients.
1985 First steps toward distribution
In 1985, the company came to a major turning point when it began to sell hardwood stair parts to stair installers and manufacturers in the Quebec City area. These clients quickly came to appreciate the quality of Menuiserox’s stair parts, and the company began to centre operations around manufacturing large quantities of major stair parts: treads, handrails, posts and nosings.
Deciding to focus on distribution, Menuiserox hired representatives to develop the Quebec market and, later, the Canadian and American markets.
2000 Installation of dry kilns
The business was in full growth mode throughout the 2000s. With 20 years of expertise in manufacturing stair parts under its belt, Menuiserox had become an industry leader. At this point, when the company undertook a project to install dry kilns, the space limitations of the first plant were keenly felt. Menuiserox then took the next step in its growth, acquiring new property in the Beauceville industrial park and building its own dry kilns.
2005 The new plant
In 2005, five years after building the dry kilns, Menuiserox decided to relocate the business to the new property. The company constructed a brand-new modern building and replaced some equipment, improving productivity.
2017 $1.3 million investment
In 2017, Menuiserox made a major investment by acquiring a scanner / docking saw, a machine that automatically cuts wood. Not only does this equipment speed up the pace of sawing, it also helps reduce the amount of human effort required.
2018 The next generation
In July 2017, Simon Boucher, head of the company since its founding, began taking steps toward retirement. With a succession plan well established, Guillaume Boucher and Jacquot Veilleux began preparing to take the reins of the company. In July 2018, the two young entrepreneurs gained equal shares in Menuiserox. The transition was so smooth that Menuiserox took home the 2018 prize for succession awarded by CLD Robert-Cliche.
2019 Celebrating 40 years
Today, Menuiserox’s facilities cover 75,000 sq. ft. and are integral to the Beauceville business community. The company now has nearly a hundred employees and proudly celebrated its 40th year in existence.
2020 Expansion of the lathing plant
In spring 2020, Menuiserox officially launched the project to expand its raw material processing plant, an investment of nearly a million dollars in equipment and facilities.
