Hardwood stair parts: an eco-responsible choice
Hardwood stair parts An eco-responsible choice
From an environmental point of view, hardwood, compared to minerals, remains the only raw materials that is easily renewed. This is why opting for wood construction materials such as hardwood stair parts when building a staircase remains first and foremost an ecological and responsible choice.
Hardwood: A renewable and abundant resource
In addition to growing easily and in abundance, wood is a natural resource that grows right here in the forests of southern Quebec as well as in the neighboring forests of the Northeastern United States and New Brunswick. Supply can thus be carried out within a smaller radius, limiting the carbon footprint of the products.
Not to mention that wood processing is much less energy-consuming than iron or synthetic carpet fibers. From tree to the plank, the transformation processes remain relatively simple.
Menuiserox good practices
Other than transforming a material that is renewable, Menuiserox treats wood with care.
Here are some of Menuiserox’s best practices that help make our staircase components more eco-responsible:
- Menuiserox exclusively processes domestic wood species. No exotic species is used, which limits the carbon trace of our products. Menuiserox sources wood species commonly known as “Northern” in reference to the region where the trees grow, within a radius of 600 km.
- Some of our lumber dries in the open air at certain times during the year. Well installed in the “T-sheads”, the wood dries there naturally. The wind and the heat of the sun, which act as a source of energy, limit the use of the kiln dryers.
- The wood shaving produced during the processing of products is sold to companies manufacturing ecological logs and wood pellets for heating. The largest wood residues are shredded and also sold to these same companies.
- Pallets used in the delivery of our products are used more than once.
- The use of a hardwood grading and cross-cutting optimization scanner when cutting wood reduces wood loss.
